In designing the visual identity of Ergon Bakehouse, we sought to capture the ethos and philosophy of the space through a subtle yet dynamic approach. Materiality plays the leading role, highlighting the details and stories that make up the Bakehouse experience. Old bakery pans are given new life as a wayfinding system, naturally guiding visitors through the space. The perforated covers of the in-room directory draw inspiration from baguette baking sheets, while oven firebricks are used to number the rooms, adding authenticity and a connection to the tradition of baking. The typography is simple yet robust, complementing the space without seeking to draw attention. Rather than shouting about its presence, the Bakehouse’s visual identity functions as a natural extension of the space, harmoniously incorporating the vision, aesthetics and human dimension of the venture.
