At Boo Republic, we’ve always believed that design should do more than inform — it should uplift. That’s why seeing our branding and packaging work for Gelo Celo named Pack of the Month on DIELINE (November 2025) under the headline “Gelo Celo’s Branding Offers a Lesson in Joymaxxing” felt like such a defining moment. This project wasn’t simply about designing for an ice-cream line; it was about creating a visual world that maximizes joy and turns every interaction into a small moment of delight.

The story began with a simple insight: Gelo Celo didn’t just sell ice cream — they sold the feeling that came with it. Instead of treating the brief as a conventional packaging task, we saw an opportunity to translate emotion into form. The brand needed an identity that felt as playful and spirited as the product itself, so we developed a flexible logotype built from multiple character-like variations of each letter. Each appearance of the logo becomes a fresh combination, giving the brand a living, shifting personality. This dynamism is supported by shapes and illustrations inspired by the physicality of ice cream — soft curves, scoop-like silhouettes, and fluid, organic forms — paired with bright, saturated colors that reinforce the sense of joy at the heart of the brand.

DIELINE’s recognition highlighted how the concept embodies the idea of “joymaxxing,” a design philosophy focused on intentionally amplifying moments of happiness. Rather than relying on minimalism or restraint, the Gelo Celo identity leans into exuberance. It delights before it informs, grounding the brand in emotional connection rather than mere function.
